The farm's first proprietor, David Compton bought the land back in the 1830s and farmed mainly cotton and raised live stock. Subsequent generations of Comptons expanded the operation to include soy beans and corn. Today, much of the farm is actually planted in Loblolly pines. Upon the arrival of David's great great grandson (also named David), the farm began cultivating hemp for the production of high quality CBD oil.
In 2021, Compton Place Farms began growing hemp after proprietor David Compton retired from federal law enforcement and returned to the family farm. Believing in the therapeutic benefits of hemp derived CBD oil, David wanted to be a source of good to others. To start, Compton Place Farms is focusing on high quality CBD oil at reasonable prices.
Born in 1808, David Compton, Sr. and his brother William James moved to the Blackbelt area in the 1830s where they began to buy land. A portion of this land is where the Compton Place Farm is growing hemp today.
Born in 1858, my great grandfather Levin Sledge Compton continued to farm the land his father had bought as well as acquire more land. Cotton was king at this time.
We are a small family farm dedicated to growing hemp to produce the highest quality of CBD oil. Our hemp is grown in the rich soil of the Alabama Blackbelt region where sun and rain are abundant.
